The four Chaney brothers
of Carroll County, Arkansas

Robert (Bob), Hosea (Hosie), Hezekiah (Kye) & Ninevah (Bud)
and, possibly, a sister named Zuritha

Four Chaney brothers and their mother are known to have lived in Carroll County, Arkansas, from the mid-1800's.  They appear in 1860  and 1870 census records of Carroll County, Arkansas.  Their father does not appear in any associated records and has not been identified although a family tradition reports that his name was Robert.  (The name is used here only as a convenience.)  The same source also reported that there was a sister, Jane, who has not been located in records.  It is probable that this Jane was Sarah Jane Clark, a daughter of Zuritha Chaney who married Elisha Price Clark.  Zuritha is probably a sister thus Sarah Jane would have been a niece. There are indications of an association to a Hosea Chaney who appeared in the 1840 census of Newton Co., MO.  His and the Elisha P. Clark household were only two or three households apart.  This Hosea has not been located since that time.  Further research is needed but this suggests a possibility that this Hosea Chaney could be related to Zurinda and the brothers.  Three of the four brothers have descendents who are interested in identifying their Chaney lineage.  (The fourth brother, Ninevah, had no children.) This web site has been established in hopes of learning the identity of this mysterious Chaney.
